Check out UK's childrens book master. Wildsmith is a real draughtsman, he never hides his linework, which flows throughout his paintings.
b. 1930 yorkshire, England
His work is genius. No photoshop texture gimmicks or layers here, how refreshing. Just graphite, watercolor+ gouache and a brush.
In his studio age 79
Mr. Wildsmith studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London.
A former music teaher at the Royal Military School of Music, he gave it up so that he could illustrate books full time. He has deservedly earned a reputation as one of the greatest living children’s illustrators. In 1962, he published his first children’s book, ABC, for which he was awarded Britain’s equivalent to the Caldecott, The Kate Greenaway Medal. The Brian Wildsmith Art Museum was established in 1994 near Tokyo, Japan. Brian is married, has four children, and currently lives in the south of France.
THANK YOU for the amazing WORK Mr. Wildsmith!
