BILL SHEARER
Artist
b. 1946

ABOUT

Bill Shearer grew up in Pennsylvania, He went on to study art at Marietta College and The Ivy School of Art, the same school as pop art icon, Keith Haring. Bill describes his process, "I am inspired by a rhythm of impulsive strokes and forms, drips, and splatters. As I paint I try to rule nothing out. It needs to be spontaneous. I want my work to have the grit, soul, and heart of a good blues tune."  Bill incorporates this energy and passion into his work, each piece emerging through a collection of collaged elements using paint, oil stick, painted papers, and various found objects composed within his canvas. Both a painter and a sculptor, Bill is described by his contemporaries as a fearless artist, embracing qualities similar to Robert Rauschenberg and Cy Twombley.  Bill is also a World Champion horseback rider and a cowboy at heart. He has been riding most of his life and hopes to continue riding forever. His love for horses runs deep, owning a small stable of horses, training colts, and competing in national and state events, which has garnered him multiple world championships.  Bill's artworks have been displayed across the country and are held in many corporate and private collections. He has collected numerous awards for his works.  Mr. Shearer lives on his ranch in Medina County, Ohio with his wife, Jenny.

about

Nick Dahlen is a painter, illustrator and designer from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Graduating with an Associates degree in graphic design from the Art Institutes  Intl. in 2010, Nick has since designed for both local businesses and music  makers alike. He’s been commissioned by Vita.mn, has collaborated with other  artists in painting murals around the Twin Cities, and has been making and  showing his own work since his graduation. His influences range from whimsical children’s book illustrations, to Matisse, all the way to the effortless motion  of a graffiti tag. Nick is fascinated by the simplicity of how one brush stroke  can tell a story and is devoted to pairing shapes and ideas that could write a  visual novel. His aim is to inspire the viewer into seeing life in a more  creative, fun and bizarre way. His work invites you to step into a world devoid  of boundary, revolving around the silly, unique and complex nature of the human  condition that proves Nick’s work to be both fanciful and full of depth. Through  the use of vibrant colors and ideas his aesthetic evokes a dynamic that is  fresh, urban and thought provoking.
