Robert Roth grew up in the historic town of Cold Spring Harbor, NY. As a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, he studied under American painter, Thomas Sgouros. Robert experiments with a variety of themes within his works. Along with his large-scale landscape paintings, he also explores the classical themes of still life and structures through collage. His current series, titled Mini Moderns consists of intimate still life arrangements - comprised of simple everyday objects, vessels, fruit, an occasional radio, and perhaps a tiny plant catching a ray of sunlight. Using collage as his media, each piece shares a small story, symbolizing a gathering of culture. Roth experiments with modernism in the abstract sense, combining spontaneous brushwork layering primitive cut shapes with a touch of "Cubism ". Roth has many influences and is particularly inspired by the likes of Rauschenberg, Picasso, Hockney and Matisse. His works are held in both public and private collections and have been exhibited in NYC, East Hampton, Washington, DC, Martha's Vineyard, Santa Fe, San Francisco, Houston, Charlotte, Kansas City, and Cleveland. Robert was also included in the prestigious AMERICAN COLLAGE EXHIBITION at the Gerald Peters Gallery in NYC.

His works are currently represented by Dimmitt Contemporary in Houston and Anne Neilson Fine Art in Charlotte. Robert and his wife, (RISD Alumni) artist, Cheryl, live and work in their 1850's farmhouse and studio barn in Hudson, Ohio.
